Who is this course suitable for?

This course is designed as a pathway to understand assessment, and lead on to qualify as an Assessor of Vocational Achievement. It is ideal if you assess or are looking to assess in work and training environments such as workshops and classrooms. It provides routes to understand assessment and qualify as an assessor.

There are 3 units which cover all the skills you will need to become an assessor.

The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

Unit 1

This is a knowledge-only award if you are starting your journey as an assessor, or if you need to know about assessment practice but are not currently practising.


The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

Unit 1

The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

Unit 2

The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

This is intended to to give you information to assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation/examining work products/oral questioning and discussion/use of witnesses/learner statements/Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

This is intended to give you information on how to assess knowledge and/or skills in vocationally related subject areas using the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments/skills tests/oral and written questions/assignments/projects/case studies/RPL.

Career and Progression Routes

After completing the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, you will be qualified to work in all occupational areas where vocational qualifications are involved. This includes the care, construction, engineering, business, retail and catering industries.

You may also find opportunities to work with training providers or colleges, or as an in-house assessor for large organisations where staff complete vocational qualifications as part of their role.
